Ends and the means (THE NEWS - October 08, 2012)
In the recent past, the PTI has been criticised for accommodating some rather dubious politicians in the party. What Imran Khan says on the issue is: what matter is the end objective and the vision; the leaders at the helm will set the pattern. Since the masses, by and large, trust Imran’s personality, his stance is pretty much understandable.
One might sense the prevalence of Machiavellianism over here. Though it is not a favourable trait, it is believed that when one runs out of options, ends do justify the means. When the situation has become so worse that we can’t achieve the objectives, no matter how noble they are, without having electables on our side then we are justified in pursuing the Machiavellian path.
